To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if he will discuss with the chairman of British Rail the case for providing at least some Sunday services on Network South East serving the Portsmouth area on Boxing day 1988;

(2) if he will raise with the chairman of British Rail the case for providing some rail services on Boxing day 1988.

This is entirely a matter for British Rail, who are responsible for the detailed management of the railway system.
