§ Mr. MaddenTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department on what date the immigration and nationality department began to issue applicants with documents confirming that their passports had been submitted to the Department and could not immediately be traced.
§ Mr. RentonIt has been the practice for some years to issue such a letter to an applicant whose passport cannot immediately be traced. The purpose is to help the applicant, where necessary, to obtain an emergency or replacement travel document.
