To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether water authorities are required by him to sell freehold or leasehold land which is surplus to operational requirements; and how much surplus land has been sold by each of the nine water authorities in each of the past eight years.

Mr. Moynihan Yes. The sales of unused or underused land in each year from the land register in acres are as follows. Disaggregated information is not available before 1984.
