To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what payments have been made to the Government of Cyprus in each of the last three years(a) in total, (b) as aid and (c) in respect of the use of the sovereign bases.

The sovereign base areas are sovereign British territory and no payment is made in respect of their use. The figures given for aid include aid provided by the Overseas Development Administration and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. They also include payments made to individuals under Government arrangements for training and scholarships.
