HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 c141W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has about the circumstances in which an underground train drove through a fire on the Piccadilly line near Knightsbridge on 12 December 1987; if any inquiry is to be held; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

On 12 December 1987 at about 11.35 an incident, which was not statutorily reportable, occurred on the Piccadilly line at Knightsbridge station. A small quantity of rubbish on the track at the end of the platform was seen to be smouldering. It was dealt with by the station staff without it being necessary to close the station or to stop the running of trains. The fire brigade was not called.
