To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the design traffic flow for the improvement on the A55 at Conwy; and what are the total estimated costs.

The design traffic flows through Conwy tunnel based on the 1981 forecast for the 16-hour two-way August peak flows in the design year 2003 were:

  • High growth 36,590 vehicles/day
  • Low growth 29,730 vehicles/day

The total estimated cost for the improvement of the A55 at Conwy is £160 million.
