§ Mr. KeyTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish an index of currency movements against the pound sterling, with a base of December 1983 = 100, for each quarter since January 1984, relating to United States dollar, Canadian dollar, yen, Swiss franc, Australian dollar, Swedish krona, Finnish mark, Norwegian krone, Austrian schilling, French franc, Belgian franc, Dutch guilder, Spanish peseta, deutschmark, Danish krone, Italian lire and Irish punt; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Lilley[holding answer 23 February 1988]: Movements of the £ sterling against the Australian dollar, Finnish mark, Norwegian krone and Austrian schilling are set out in the table. For the other currencies, I refer my hon. Friend to Table 13.1 in "Financial Statistics" published monthly by the Central Statistical Office, copies of which are in the House of Commons Library.
