§ Mr. Tony BanksTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services, what steps he is taking to ensure that there is adequate representation of black, and ethnic minorities on(a) the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work and (b) similar bodies for which his Department is responsible.
§ Mr. NewtonWe are aware of the concern to increase the number of members of ethnic minority origin on the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work. In making appointments to the council, and to similar bodies, efforts are made to identify members of ethnic minority groups who are able and willing to undertake public work.
