HC Deb 25 February 1988 vol 128 c293W
Mr. Nicholas Baker

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will introduce a system of equal retirement age of 65 years for women and men, with flexible pension arrangements for those who wish to retire earlier; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Scott

We are considering what options for change in pension age might be appropriate. As well as equal treatment between men and women and the possibility of greater choice for individuals, our consideration of this subject has to take account of the social and economic impact of any change and of the long-term financial implications for individuals, employers and the state.
