HC Deb 25 February 1988 vol 128 c299W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what considerations he or the Mental Health Act commissions are giving to statutory powers for compulsory domiciliary medications of patients not in institutions; if he is aware of any evidence of such need; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Currie

Compulsory treatment in the community is the subject of discussions that have been taking place within such organisations as the Mental Health Act Commission, the Royal College of Psychiatrists and MIND. At present no firm proposals have been put forward to the Department. No changes would be considered without a full consultation with all those concerned with mental health.
