§ Mr. Gareth WardellTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what additional measures he proposes to take to improve the cervical cytology uptake in Wales.
§ Mr. GristThe cervical cytology screening service, including any action necessary to improve uptake, is the responsibility of the individual district health authorities. Over the last two years some £800,000 of recurring central funding has been allocated to health authorities to help them improve the service. Uptake rates are being monitored by the Welsh Office.
