To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he proposes to review the present road-building programme in the Strathclyde region; and if he will make a statement.

We shall be announcing shortly the 1988–89 trunk road programme for Scotland, including Strathclyde. The construction programme for local roads is the responsibility of Strathclyde regional council, within its capital allocation for roads arid transport.
