HC Deb 18 February 1988 vol 127 cc729-30W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many officers in each health authority area in Scotland are appointed to inspect private and publicly owned residential homes(a) for elderly people, (b) for mentally disabled people, (c) for mentally ill people and (d) for physically disabled people; and if he will outline the training and guidance which such officers have received.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The registration and inspection of residential homes is the responsibility of local authorities, and health boards have no supervisory functions in relation to such homes. Information on the number of local authority staff engaged on these functions is not held centrally.
