To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his Department has estimated the cost of removing Crown immunity from prisons with regard to health and safety and kitchen hygiene legislation.

Mr. Hogg

We are satisfied that existing arrangements are effective and can see no justification for the removal of Crown immunity from prisons with regard to kitchen hygiene legislation. The cost of removing Crown immunity has not been estimated.
