HC Deb 18 February 1988 vol 127 cc723-4W
Rev. Martin Smyth

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his Department's estimate as to the sums lost to the Revenue through Irish Republican Army and other paramilitary extortion rackets in the last three years; what efforts have been made to ensure coordination between the Revenue, the Royal Ulster Constabulary and other police forces; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Norman Lamont

[holding answer 16 February 1988]: I can make no reliable estimate of such sums. The Inland Revenue co-operates with police forces investigating suspected tax offences.
