HC Deb 16 February 1988 vol 127 cc554-5W
Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what estimate he has of the number of operations and hospital treatments, including emergency operations, lost on 3 February, and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Newton

The information we received from health authorities showed that the number of non-emergency operations lost through strike action in the National Health Service on 3 February was 206. There were no reports of cancelled emergency operations. A small number of non-emergency admissions, out-patients and day patients had their attendances disrupted.
