To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total cost to the Exchequer of United States forces in the United Kingdom.

Information on the total cost to the Exchequer is not available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. However the net identifiable public expenditure costs in 1986–87 were as follows:

1 These are costs incurred by the United Kingdom in pursuance of its obligations under the Status of Forces Agreements.
2 These costs reflect the net expenses incurred by PSA in design of buildings, letting contracts, supervising work in progress and consultancy fees.
