To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what information was available to him about the profitability of Electricté De France when he made his most recent statement to the House about the alleged price advantage enjoyed by French electricity consumers.

According to the 1986 annual report of Electriciité De France (EdF), EdF's profit in that year was FF. 1.3 billion. EdF's annual report for 1987 has not yet been published.
