To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the military facilities available to the United States armed forces on Diego Garcia.

Mr. Ian Stewart

The United States Government operate a United States navy support facility on Diego Garcia, in accordance with the provisions of the 1976 Exchange of Notes, Cmnd. 6413.

Mr. Mullin

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the number of(a) United States personnel and (b) United States aircraft based on Diego Garcia; and if he will make a statement.

There has been no material change in the numbers of United States service personnel on Diego Garcia since the reply of my right hon. Friend the Member
