§ Mr. AtkinsonTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has received any representations seeking an amendment of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to protect badger sets.
§ Mrs. RoeWe have recently received a number of representations from right hon. and hon. Members and members of the public on this matter.
However, badgers are not under threat as a species and already receive a substantial degree of protection under the existing law. We therefore have no plans at present to amend the current statutory provisions.
