To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he last met the chairman of the water authorities; and what matters were discussed.

Mr. Ridley

I last met the chairman of the water authorities on 19 January. We discussed many things, including the way ahead to the earliest practicable establishment of the National Rivers Authority, and privatisation.
