To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the proposed privatisation of nationalised companies in the financial year 1988–89.

The Government have announced their intention to privatise the water and electricity industries and British Steel. There may also be other privatisation sales in this Parliament. No decision has been taken yet on the timing of sales.
