34. Mr. Madden

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what evidence he has received of trade disruption to United Kingdom industry arising from the importing of Turkish acrylic yarn.

Mr. Alan Clark

I have nothing to add to the reply I have sent to the hon. Member following his priority written question put down for answer on 1 February.

53. Mr. James Lamond

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he has received any representations regarding the recent agreement reached with Turkey on the import into the United Kingdom of acrylic yarn.

Mr. Alan Clark

Yes, I have received a number of representations about the recent agreement with Turkish textile exporters.

I met representatives of the Confederation of British Wool Textiles, who are concerned about the acrylic yarn imports.
