§ Mr. Simon HughesTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the loss consequent on National Health Service payments to doctors whose time is lost due to lack of nurses and support staff.
§ Mr. NewtonThere would be some loss to the National Health Service if a doctor were unable to perform his scheduled duties due to the lack of nurses and support staff. A number of initiatives are already in hand aimed at improving the recruitment and retention of nursing and support staff.
