To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what information he has about the numbers, or percentage of primary and secondary school pupils in the area of the Inner London education authority in receipt of free meals.

In October 1986, the latest date for which data are available, 58,097 primary and 28,279 secondary pupils in ILEA were in receipt of free school meals. These represented 35.7 per cent. and 29.1 per cent. of the totals respectively.
