- 1 station officer
- 28 qualified ambulancemen
- 15 ambulancemen
- 6 relief ambulancemen
- 1 mechanic
- 1 semi-skilled mechanic.
§ Mr. Tom ClarkeTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many vehicles are in use at the Coatbridge ambulance depot; and what arrangements are made for their repair and maintenance.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythThere are 22 ambulances and one van based at Coatbridge ambulance station. Most maintenance and repair work is carried out at the station itself where there is a fully-equipped one-bay workshop. Back-up is provided by the Motherwell ambulance station, which has a six-bay workshop.

§ Mr. Michael ForsythThe areas normally served by Coatbridge ambulance station include Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Uddingston and Bothwell, Viewpark and parts of the local motorway network. Ambulances from the station may also be called upon to assist throughout Lanarkshire and Forth valley as necessary.

§ Mr. Michael ForsythThe station serves Monklands district general hospital, Bellshill maternity hospital, Law hospital, Stonehouse hospital and Hairmyres hospital. Patients are also conveyed to and from hospitals in Glasgow.
§ Mr. Tom ClarkeTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has any plans for extending and improving facilities at the Coatbridge ambulance depot; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythI understand that a proposal to build a replacement for the present station is, together with other competing priorities, under consideration by the Common Services Agency, of which the Scottish ambulance service is a division.
