§ Mr. HumeTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what figures are available to indicate the numbers of criminal injuries claims for each year since 1975 arising from so-called punishment attacks, the total amounts of compensation paid and the number of cases contested in court.
§ Mr. Stanley[holding answer 29 January 1988]: The information that is readily available relates only to criminal injury claims for punishment shootings in the form of "kneecapping" and is as follows:
in each case; how many were involved in each party; how many brought their spouses or other relatives; and, in those cases, who paid.
§ Mr. Stanley[holding answer 3 February 1988]: Invitations to United States politicians to visit Northern Ireland at public expense are a matter for my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary.
