HC Deb 05 February 1988 vol 126 cc776-7W
Mr. Hind

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what grants he has agreed to make to Lancashire county council in 1988–89; what grants were made by his Department to Lancashire in 1987–88; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chope

On the basis of its estimated spending, Lancashire county council will receive in 1987–88 £317.568 million in rate support grant. For spending at the 1988–89 RSG settlement spending assumption of £644.309 million, the council would receive £337.336 million

The council will also receive in respect of this financial year and 1988–89 payments of gipsy site grant and derelict land grant and small sums under part III of scheduel 15 to the Housing Act 1985. It is not yet possible to say how much the council will receive in these grants in respect of the two years, as payments are made on the basis of claims made to my Department after expenditure is incurred.
