Mr. Darling

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what steps he intends to take to ensure that in assessing the impact on business of all of the Government's policies, he receives the views of a wide range of companies.

Mr. Atkins

Ministers and officials receive the views of companies through numerous contacts with trade organisations and individual firms. I expect these to continue, and to be helped by the steps we are taking to strengthen and extend my Department's regional office network.

Mr. Darling

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what steps he intends to take to ensure that in assessing the impact on business of all of the Government's policies, he receives the views of the workers in small businesses.

Mr. Atkins

It is the Government's practice to consult fully on proposals for change.
