To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on progress towards recognising the Prison Governors Association.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will accord official recognition to the Prison Governors Association.

We are considering the new association's request for recognition in the light of, among other things, the views of other interested parties. Comments from one body are still awaited, but they are expected very shortly, and we shall take a decision as soon as possible.
