To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what plans his Department has to assist job seekers wishing to locate in different regions of the United Kingdom.

Mr. Lee

My Department operates a number of provisions to assist job seekers wishing to locate in different regions of the United Kingdom, including the travel-to-interview scheme, and the NATVACS computerised vacancy bank. These are being kept under review. From 1 January 1988 assistance under the travelto-interview scheme has been extended to cover unemployed job seekers with interviews to attend in Northern Ireland.
