§ Mr. Matthew Taylor
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what was his Department's total expenditure on housing in 1979 and in the latest year available, at constant prices.

§ Mr. Trippier
Total gross capital public expenditure on housing in England in 1987–88 was .3,827 million; in 1979–80 it was .5,545 million (at 1987–88 prices). Current expenditure in 1987–88 was .1,333 million; in 1979–80 it was .3,217 million (at 1987–88 prices).
