To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total number of households accepted as homeless by local authorities in Scotland in 1979 and the latest year available.

The number of households accepted as homeless by local authorities was 7,443 in 1979–80 and 10,404 in 1986–87.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has for the number of people homeless in Scotland other than those accepted as such by local authorities, in 1979 and for the latest year available.
