HL Deb 21 December 1988 vol 502 c1449WA
Baroness Faithfull

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in planning the new branch of the M.40 to Birmingham, note has been taken of the following four points where the flow of traffic is likely to be impeded:

  1. (i) Western Turn;
  2. (ii) the hill above the Railway Bridge;
  3. (iii) the traffic lights at Park Royal;
  4. (iv) traffic lights at Hillingdon crossroads.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)

The Oxford to Birmingham Route Traffic Model developed to provide estimates of future traffic flows within the M.40 London-Oxford-Birmingham corridor covered a large area of West London. Schemes to improve the four remaining junctions on the A.40 within Greater London where congestion occurs are included in the trunk roads programme.
