To ask the Secretary of State for Energy how many projects there are of which he has knowledge for power stations to be built by the private sector; and if he will outline(a) the average capacity per plant, (b) whether any station exceeds 1,000MW and (c) the aggregated capacity involved.

We already know of nearly 20 proposed independent generation projects, with a total capacity of some 7 gigawatts. Specific details of individual projects are commercial-in-confidence until the companies announce them.
