To ask the Secretary of State for Health what were the in-patient waiting list figures in March for the North Western regional health authority; and what were the figures for the previous year, and 1979.

Mr. Mellor

There were 61,800 patients on the inpatient waiting list in North Western region at 31 March 1988. This compares with 63,900 at March 1987 and 77,400 at March 1979.
