To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many people have(a) ceased to claim or lost entitlement of income support since April, to the most recent date as a result of (i) finding employment, (ii) the ruling that work expenses are no longer deductible from earnings for income calculations, (iii) the reduction from 30 to 24 hours of the full-time work qualification, (iv) the removal of benefit rights from 16 and 17-year-olds, and (v) other, (b) the amounts saved in each category, (c) what he anticipates the end of year outcome will be for numbers and amounts saved for each category and (d) what he anticipates the numbers and amounts saved in 1988–89 will be.
