§ 37. Mr. WardTo ask the Secretary of State for Energy what proportion of the United Kingdom's total national energy needs was met by the private sector for the last year for which figures are available; if he will give the comparable figures for 1979; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Cecil ParkinsonIn 1987 the proportion of energy used which was produced in the private sector was 74 per cent.; this compares with 41 per cent. in 1979.
