§ Mr. EvennettTo ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what representations he has received concerning interference with independent local radio broadcasts by pirate radio operators; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Atkins[holding answer 6 December 1988] : Several recent representations have been received concerning interference to one independent local radio broadcast station in London.
My Department's radio investigation service has already acted to remove the source of interference causing a particular problem and it will continue to act vigorously to clear the radio frequencies of unlicensed broadcasters that cause interference, though they always give first priority to dealing with interference to radio systems upon which emergency services depend.
