§ Mr. Peter WalkerWe have already taken a number of actions to ensure that the opportunities presented by the Channel tunnel come to Wales. These include the series of seminars we have arranged to increase awareness of the single European market and the appointment of a Channel fixed link liaison officer to advise companies in Wales of opportunities to tender for contracts as they arise. In addition the Department is represented on the consultative forum which British Rail has set up as part of the process of planning its Channel tunnel services. We will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure that businesses in Wales are aware of the great opportunities which are now arising.
