To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will meet Scottish local authority associations to discuss the implications for local authority manpower and expenditure in Scotland of the changes in the social security system; and if he will make a statement.

36. Mr. McFall

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he next intends to meet the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities to discuss the manpower and financial implications for local authorities as a result of the changes in housing benefit regulations.

Mr. Lang

My right hon. and learned Friend and I meet the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities regularly to discuss local government finance. Our next meeting will be on 29 April.
