§ Baroness Burton of Coventryasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether, concerning their Written Answer to the Baroness Burton of Coventry on the decision of the European Commission (HL Deb., 13th April 1988, cols. 1135–6), it would be correct to include the fact that the undertakings given will apply for four years and that the Commission also stated that this period was "sufficiently long to allow competitors to become established and thus to compete in the market place".
§ The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (Lord Young of Graffham)The Commission did include a statement to this effect in the announcement of its decision.
