To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is in a position to make a statement on the position of Her Majesty's Government as to their attitude towards the renegotiation of New Zealand's butter quota from the European Community.

The EC Commission has not yet made a proposal on the arrangements for the import of New Zealand butter from 1 January 1989, and so I have nothing to add to the reply that I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Romsey and Waterside (Mr. Colvin) on 3 March, at column 679.
