HC Deb 25 April 1988 vol 132 c34W
Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether Leicestershire district health authority has yet introduced cervical screening call and recall schemes for women living within the Leicestershire health authority area; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Currie

Yes.

Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average length of time taken to return a woman's cervical smear test results to her doctor within the Leicestershire health authority area.

Mrs. Currie

The average time taken to process a cervical smear test in Leicestershire is currently about eight weeks compared with the Departmental guideline of four weeks. Three additional part-time staff have been recruited to reduce the time taken and are now being trained.
