HC Deb 18 April 1988 vol 131 c338W
98. Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether his Department has made any studies of the cost to the National Health Service of transport-related accidents.

Mrs. Currie

No specific study of these costs has been carried out, but the Department does form an estimate of the likely annual cost of treating casualties of road traffic accidents. The latest available estimate (England 1985) puts the cost at £124 million.
