Mr. StanbrookTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the Government's policy towards the treatment of former members of the public service of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland whose pensions have not been taken over by the British Government.
§ Mr. Chris PattenPensions of public servants of the former federation are paid from the Central African pension fund and responsibility for awarding pension increases falls to the three former partner states (Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe). However, we are aware that the292W majority of federal pensioners have not received any pension increases under these arrangements. The British Government are ready to play their part as one of the guarantors of the fund in the talks which are taking place between the former partner Governments to find a solution to the problem.
