To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total cost of strengthening partitions in public sections in his Department's offices in Bradford south and west; and if he will make a statement.

Work to strengthen partitions has been carried out only at Bradford, south local office and this cost £309.75.

This information is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

There has been no change in the Department's policy with regard to the level of protection provided for staff. Local office managers have responsibility for deciding the appropriate level of protection, in consultation with their local staff and trade unions.
