To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what was the change in the numbers of employees in employment in Scotland between 1979 and 1986;

(2) what was the change in the number of people employed in (a) manufacturing and (b) the service industries in Scotland between 1979 and 1986;

(3) what was the percentage change in the number of people employed in (a) manufacturing and (b) the service industries in Scotland between 1979 and 1986.
