To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services when the adjudication officers' guide will be published; and if he will make a statement.

[pursuant to his reply, 31 March 1988, c. 661–621In addition to the adjudication officer's guide, the third annual report of the Chief Adjudication Officer is being published today and copies have been placed in the Library. It provides information on the standards of social security adjudication. I thank the CAO for his detailed report and I welcome the recognition that the new income support scheme and other aspects of the reform of social security should lead to an improvement in adjudication standards.
