§ Mr. NichollsI understand from the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service that in 1987, the latest complete calendar year for which figures are available, ACAS north-west region was involved in conciliation in 245 disputes. A settlement, or progress towards a settlement, was achieved in 209 (85.3 per cent) of these cases.
